PERSONAL REFLECTION

Writing a health blog and tracking my health goal progress has been such an enjoyable experience.  I feel like I have learned so much about wellness in the past few weeks and have come so far in my journey.  This assessment really showed me that aspects of my wellness that were out of balance, and it taught me that it is possible to get better in these areas.

The hardest part of making a health goal was staying consistent.  I had my days where I really had to work hard at it.  Going to bed earlier was not easy for me, but I worked at it, and it eventually became easier.  With more rest at night, it was not a problem to wake up earlier and find the time I needed to get my regular meditation routine set up.  After a few days of staying consistent, I noticed how my body became more adjusted to the new schedule, and it was not as difficult to fall asleep earlier.

The easiest part of the journey for me was finding quiet time alone to meditate.  Waking up before anyone else allowed me to be in solitude and gave me the perfect atmosphere to sit and connect with my inner self.

I believe that this assessment was a great opportunity for me to practice for my future career as a health professional.  It allowed me to assess myself in the same way that I may need to assess a patient or client.  By exploring the dimensions of wellness and what they meant to me, I now feel more confident in my ability to help someone else discover those same exact things about themselves.  Knowing how to make a S.M.A.R.T. goal was also something that really helped me balance the dimensions of wellness in my life.  This is yet another lesson I could use in the future to ensure others find the same sense of balance in their health and wellness as I have.

Will I continue to document my health journey?  Absolutely!  I believe that continuing with this blog will help me stay accountable and motivated.  I look forward to the next few weeks and what new things I learn on my journey to optimal wellness.
